World without Oil

Production Company : Triton, Bangkok, Thailand. Dir : Tenn
An incredibly testing edit, even if the cut doesn't show it. Through a combination of live shooting and time-remapping, we had to show how the world would function without oil. The sound design and music were also a challenge, in the end I think we choose the correct decisions.

Great clients on this one, one's that notices the board actually had too much information in and then asked the director to help them reduce shots, but tell the same story. A lot of playroom with the effects at offline gave the clients a good indication of what they could expect - helping smooth the presentation process.

This was a really fun edit to work on, a lot of the work was done in post so it required a lot of imagination as regards to the timing of shots.

The brief from the director here was luxury and speed - and how we can execute both in an elegant way.
I enjoyed working on this edit because of the amount of freedom the director allowed, it was also a lot of fun to experiment with the different speed ramps. I like the idea of introducing the music later, highlighting the sound the car makes.

Thai Airways_2009 Campaign

Production Company : Joy Luck Club, Bangkok, Thailand. Dir : Jamie Quah (Running Water, KL.)
The agency and director teamed up for the second year running and luckily, I got to edit again.
The footage was shot as if it were a documentary film, so choosing the precise moments became the challenge - that and convincing the client about the music. Overall, I think the film worked out very nicely - I can look back on the edit and be happy that we all achieved our goal.

Thaitainium - Baby, Whats Up ? (Music Video)

Production Company : Macho Mango, Bangkok, Thailand. Dir : Rajit
The director and I had just finished a job for the latest Toyota Yaris.
Thaitainium ( the best-known hip-hop artist in Thailand,) had starred in that and written the song for it. The band then decided to release an MV featuring a longer version of the song. The basic idea for the clip is 'the last supper,' Toyota also wanted a piece of the action so the director wrote in the story of the girls arriving at the party (in the cars.)
I really enjoyed working on this piece, I was given pretty much carte blanche as far as the editing-style is concerned. It was essential to disscuss ideas and plan techniques in pre-production - with a reduced budget we decided to take as many photos as possible and put them together using different editing-techniques. It certainly helped that the D.O.P. was also a top photographer - although this was his first time operating a film camera.
NB : The band refused to perform any 'sync' takes.
Thankyou to P'Joe the D.O.P. aka J_Surat.
Many thanks (also) to Finito Films, for the use of the Online facilities. ;)

Lumix Ken 30

Production Company: Film Factory,Bangkok, Thailand. Dir : Michael Warr

Generally working with P'Mike is a real pleasure, most times I've worked with him he's experimented in one way or another - this times being no different.

Music turned out to be a real issue, but I think we found the right one - eventually.
